Band we dig...
The XYZ Affair, a local east village favorite.
The XYZ Affair is: Alex Feder, Chris Bonner, Sam Rockwell, and Russ Maschmeyer.
All NYU alums, they share an apartment in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Their debut album, "A Few More Published Studies," is out now.
The District:
The District describe themselves as Southern-fried pop rock with a hint of soul...Take two kids who grew up in Georgia devouring all sorts of American popular music, add one amazing multi-instrumentalist, New York City, two middle-American redheads with beards, a bassist, 5 microphones, a CSNY fixation, Stevie Wonder, Sonny Terry, and an obsession with the road...throw it all in a blender and count to six.
These guys sound like a cross between old Southern Rock, Rhythm and Blues meets The Greenhornes. They are led by Ron Pope who has a very soulful voice and a true stage presence.
The District is:
Ron Pope - Vocals, Piano, Guitar, Harp
Chris Kienel - Guitar, Harp, Vocals
Paul Hammer - Lead Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums, Vocals
Will Frish - Keys, Harp, Guitar, Lap Steel, Vocals, The Kitchen Sink, Etc
Dan Ceballos - Bass, Vocals
